The Most Important Thing

In The Most Important Thing, author David Gross parlays his own father’s life history into a moving fictional narrative about a young man’s journey from a Kentucky rural homestead to life as a soldier in the Korean War. After Bradley Gross decides to enlist in the U.S. Army at the tender age of eighteen, the benefits of his decision seem endless—seeing the world, having grand adventures, and receiving bigger paychecks. However, it’s only amidst the danger, adventure, and perils of battle that he seeks, and finds, what is truly the most important thing.

David Gross was born near Austin, Indiana, in 1954 to Bradley and Josephine Gross. David Gross has three children, Julian, Will, and Kayleigh. He is a graduate of Indiana State University and the University of South Florida. He also holds advanced degrees from Texas Wesleyan School of Law and the University of Oklahoma.

He is a veteran of the United States Air Force and has taught at three colleges and universities. Gross is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Tarrant County Probate Bar Association, and the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. This is his first novel.
